Scheduled Wood Walks focusing on herbs, mushrooms, native plants and trees along with a gallery of artists will be offered throughout the day. Separate walks on mushrooms, plants and the forest continue while the artisans offer a variety demonstrations and hands-on activities.
The mushroom guided walk is led by Ed Braley, certified in wild mushroom safety, goes along the wood land trails finding and identifying mushrooms that he is familiar with. Ongoing discussions will include characteristics used for identification, life cycles, new research and edible vs medicinal species. Ed is part of the Chefs Consortium, specializing in mushroom dishes. Back at the barn Ed will have his artwork displayed along with mushroom products.
Our plant walk this year is focused on edible plants, not only ones in abundance during the summer months but “how to eat a tree”, finding what is available year round. Back at the barn Annett Burriello will have her famous dandelion coffee and samples of what was discussed on her walk.
Owner, Gary Martin will delve in on his favorite topic, the forest and his trees. Being a steward of the land, the joy of being in the woods and discussing the relationship we all share with nature.
Friends and neighbors join in at the barn offering a wide variety of art along with demonstrations and hands on activities. Jewelry, blacksmithing, pyrography, greeting cards, candles, wood work, quilting and more will available.
Other Farms and shops in Town will be open for more walks, fun and shopping. Be sure to check them out.
