Christmas for the Animals at the Alaska Zoo

Christmas for the Animals is an annual tradition and the zoo's longest running event. Share the love with your community and the animals of the Alaska Zoo at this event sponsored by the Alaska Community Foundation. Join us Sunday, December 4th, 2022 from 10am to 8pm with Zoo Lights happening from 5-8pm (last entry is at 7:30pm). The Artisan's Bazaar in the Gateway Hall will be from 10am to 4pm with free entry to the shopping. Zoo members have free entry to the main event and to Zoo Lights on zoo grounds from 10am-8pm on December 4th. Non-members pay regular admission rates apply from 10am-5pm, then Zoo Lights rates apply from 5-8pm. Visitors will enjoy the Artisan's Bazaar in the Gateway Hall from 10am-4pm, caroling near the bonfire by O'Malley Elementary, caroling by Anchorage Opera and Anchorage Opera Overture Council, visitors bringing food donations for zoo animals to place in animal stockings from 2-5pm, food donations for the Food Bank of Alaska to be placed in barrels near the entrance (see site for needed items), photos with Santa Discovery Center from 2-4pm, a bonfire near the old entrance from 2-8pm, the Kape Espresso Tayo coffee truck on hand for drink and snack purchases, holiday-themed animal enrichment made by zookeepers for the animals and more.
