The GLIDE Legacy Committee joins GLIDE’s President and CEO Karen Hanrahan in welcoming guests to the first-ever virtual edition of the GLIDE Legacy Gala, one of the most highly anticipated and meaningful young professional social events in San Francisco. The 11th Annual GLIDE Legacy Gala, A Virtual Gathering, takes place online on Saturday, August 15 and will feature a panel discussion and live Q&A with the 2020 honorees of the Cecil Williams Legacy Award and the Janice Mirikitani Legacy Award. The evening will conclude with a digital dance party set to irresistible beats by DJ KingMost. The evening’s awardees, chosen for their impact in their communities, innovative leadership, and passion, will be announced soon.
All of the evening’s proceeds will help support GLIDE’s critical work in the community. During this unprecedented public health emergency, GLIDE has continued to provide essential services to unhoused and low-income Tenderloin neighbors, serving approximately 15,000 meals a week, safely delivering health and harm reduction services, behavioral counseling, spiritual community and support and more.
A donation of any amount (suggested minimum donation of $25) will grant attendees access to the 11th Annual GLIDE Legacy Gala live-streaming event on August 15. VIP access is available for $100 and sponsorships begin at $2,500. Donors of $1,000 or more will receive VIP room access and a custom Legacy Gala Kit complete with GLIDE swag, swanky cocktails, and delectable treats to enhance your virtual experience.
Past Legacy Award honorees have included The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Mpumi Nobiva, Lateefah Simon, Alicia Garza, Jeremy Affeldt, Renel Brooks-Moon, Chip Conley, Vernon Davis, Dave Eggers, Chris Gardner, California Attorney General (now U.S. Senator and recent presidential candidate) Kamala Harris, Chinaka Hodge, Felicia Horowitz, Van Jones, Ronnie Lott, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Shaka Senghor, Shiza Shahid, Andres Torres, and Kristi Yamaguchi.
