Jessica Fudim- Venemous

Her story is more than two thousand years old, but what would Medusa say if she finally had a chance to speak for herself? Jessica Fudim's full-length, dance-theater solo, "Venomous", invites the audience to see things from Medusa's perspective and move her story beyond that of a monster. Playing between whimsy and darkness. Fudim combines contemporary movement, storybook tableaus, unabashed party dancing and an eclectic soundscore. As she leads us through ancient temples, dark caverns and into Medusa's fuller humanity, we dig into the complexities of who gets to author one's own reputation, and who gets to be believed.​

Jessica Fudim
​Jessica has been creating and performing dance-theater work for more than two decades throughout her native Bay Area and beyond, both as a solo artist and with her ensemble company, The Dance Animals. She is the current Resident Dance Artist at the Sonoma Community Center and a past resident artist of The Voice Factory SF and the Workspace for Choreographers in Virginia. Her solo, "Sheepish", received a "Best of the SF Fringe" honor and she captained an award-winning musical contingent in the San Francisco Pride Parade. Jessica was a Co-Director of The Experimental Performance Institute (EPI) at New College of California and, with the late Dwayne Calizo, she co-produced the multi-media performance series "Crash Cabaret: Where Queers Collide" at San Francisco's Roxie Theatre. She has also performed with Erika Chong Shuch and as half of the pop-punk duo, Dreamboat, Where Are You?, with Carrie Love. In addition to performing, Jessica leads movement workshops and classes for both children and adults.
