Everyday Pilgrimage Exhibition
This exhibition explores daily life as pilgrimage. Whether sitting in the back yard or traveling to remote lands to meet a spiritual teacher, there is an opportunity to wake up. It’s by adopting a new perspective that awakening occurs.
Kim’s work focuses on the landscape of the high country—since spirituality is traditionally associated with mountains or deserts. She shares abstract glimpses into the spacious expanse of the Sangre de Cristo mountains and San Luis Valley of southern Colorado.
The act of pilgrimage might involve a geographical moving about or not, but it always includes a transformation. Kim invites the viewer to consider the possibility of living life as a sacred journey.
The mountains surrounding Kim Roberts' home in Crestone, Colorado inspired her to undertake her own pilgrimage. Her motivation for making art is to share an experience of an expanded state of mind by inducing a moment of calm, a sense of peace, and a momentary gap. Kim’s intention is to create the space for the viewer to pause and take a moment in the “Right Here, Right Now”.
She works primarily in oil and encaustic wax. The theme of space is an ever-present feature in her work. Her abstract landscapes extend an invitation to embody spaciousness, feeling both the freedom and uncertainty that vast space can induce.
Kim Roberts, MA, has been creating art since 2002. As a trained psychotherapist and authorized Ashtanga Yoga teacher, Kim spent 25 years teaching yoga and leading retreats throughout the world.
