D’art Gallery Hosts “Emerge” Exhibition in Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe
Located at 900 Santa Fe Drive, D’art Gallery hosts the gallery’s fourth exhibition of work by national artists from Friday, December 10, 2020 through Sunday, January 10, 2021. The Artists Opening Reception for “Emerge” is scheduled for Friday, December 11, from 5 – 7 pm, subject to any restrictions for gatherings during COVID19. Masks are required and social distancing will be advised. The juror, Mary Voelz Chandler, will present the awards for Best in Show at 6 pm either in person or via Zoom.
The theme of the exhibition, “Emerge”, is rather broad asking artists to present through their work their process of what “emerging” looks like. D’art Gallery wants to give other artists, besides gallery members, an opportunity to exhibit their work in Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe. The prospectus invited artists to enter work that expresses looking inward to understanding art and self in a different way; discovering an expansive and expressive freedom; re-assessing their life; or, re-aligning their relationship to the environment.
“Emerge” Exhibition features 48 works by 48 artists from 17 States demonstrating innovative approaches to creating work using acrylic, oil, cold wax, mixed media, ceramic, stone, bronze, stitched leather, watercolor, gouache, photography, printmaking and encaustic.
“When I read the description of “Emerge”, I thought about the beginning of the year. 2020 seemed so bright and it appeared the world would be open for anything. It is not the year I expected. As many experienced anxiety and lethargy, there are bursts of happiness. As I scrolled through more than 500 images for “Emerge,” I felt restored. I applaud that so many artists put their work out there. Some works in “Emerge” are serene, some feel turbulent, and some look to the future. Congratulations to those who are telling the story of “Emerge.” I am honored to be part of this project.”
