Don't miss the annual One Journey Festival on Saturday, June 24, 2023. The Festival celebrates the talents, stories, and contributions of refugees and other displaced people from around the world. Popular TV personality and DC media ambassador, Tommy McFly will emcee this free family-friendly festival, which features international music and dance, storytelling, Kids Corner, Unity Parade, community mural project, international food lane, global marketplace, VR experiences, Climate Refugee Response program and the Take Action Tent with refugee service organizations. Plus a special Festival visit by Sesame Street's beloved blue monster, Grover (costume character) and Sesame Workshop.
Confirmed performers: Kabul Dreams - Afghanistan’s first rock band * Stringwise - Grammy-nominated Jorge Glem and César Orozco, Venezuelan/Cuban masters of the cuatro and keyboard * Cheick Hamala Diabate and the Griot Street band – soul-stirring “king of the n’goni” from Mali * Gerdan: Kaleidoscope of World Music – traditional Ukrainian folk music with a modern spin * Pihcintu Multicultural Chorus – acclaimed all-girl choir of former refugees from around the globe * Hussein Smko – Iraqi dancer/choreographer and Project Tag * Sokeo Ros – Cambodian hip-hop dancer/choreographer * Zakaria Bireche – African-Mediterranean fusion, from Algeria * Batalá Washington – Afro-Brazilian drum band leads the Unity Parade.
