Prince Ganglim (Hyun Bin), renown for his skills in combat, returns home after a long captivity in Qing Dynasty China only to find his father's kingdom overrun by night demons that are neither man nor beast, in this bloody-good mashup of a Joseon Dynasty Korea period film and a dark zombie thriller. Ganglim is hardly a moral leader, but is thrust into the role of defender for his king and his people. To make matters worse, the corrupt minister of war, Kim Ja-joon (Jang Dong-gun), plots to overthrow the king at his most vulnerable moment. Everything is on the line in this gruesome, rollicking adventure.
The 2018 zombie flick Rampant from director Kim Sung-hoon continued the Korean trend of creating a fresh twist on a familiar monster genre, thanks to a unique setting, A-list actors, and a top-of-the-line production budget.
