GOODWILL TO HOST ‘SUSTAINABILITY SATURDAY’ ON MAY 11

Event Encourages Central Florida to ‘Choose Secondhand First,’ Safely Dispose of Documents

WHAT:

According to Forbes Home, Florida ranks among the top five states when it comes to sustainability efforts. Aligning with that trend, Goodwill Industries of Central Florida (GICF) invites the community to support sustainability by “Choosing Secondhand First.”

On Saturday, May 11, the organization will host a “Sustainable Saturday” event, encouraging neighbors in Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Volusia, Seminole and Lake counties to stop by their local Goodwill to shop and/or donate. GICF employees will be handing out bumper magnets to donors and reusable canvas bags to shoppers while supplies last.

The community will also be able to safely dispose of personal paperwork, such as old tax documents. A Shred-It truck will be onsite at the **OBT store, located at 7531 S. Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to safely and securely destroy your documents for free.

In 2023, GICF diverted nearly 24 million pounds of clothing and household goods from local landfills.
