It is said that music is the language of the soul, expressing what words alone cannot. We will discover how music communicates as a language, through such aspects as rhythm, dynamics, melody, and then by exploring how those components affect our thoughts and emotions.
We will learn to listen more objectively. As we become more aware of the music itself, we will move with the rhythm, find joy in silence, and creatively improvise expressions without words; all toward gaining a deeper experience of the spirit within.
This workshop will be led by Timothy McKee who earned the Doctor of Music Degree from The Juilliard School where his studies explored why the understanding of music is essential to the human experience, and how to teach music more effectively. Throughout his career McKee has endeavored to put those ideas into practice.
