This month-long exhibit about modern architecture in Hawaii and how it has shaped our community celebrates 75 years of iconic structures from one of the most influential architecture firms in the Pacific Rim, AHL. This multi-media event is free and open to the public daily during the month of July.

In addition to the month-long exhibit, special events include two panels with expert speakers:

"Shaping Community Institutions" on July 14, 5:30p to 7p. Urban institutions allow us to function and grow as a society and reflect the needs of the community. Panelists will discuss the design and programming of our institutions. Panelists are Deborah Spencer Chun, president and chief executive officer of Adult Friends For Youth and a participant in the Women In Prison project; Joshua Hargrove, general manager of Prince Waikiki hotel; and Vince Baldemor, Ed.D, associate athletics director, University of Hawaii.

"Mid-Century Modern Architecture" on July 20, 5:30p to 7p. A discussion of Hawaii's architecture from 1940 to 1960 and how it reflects our culture. Panelists are William Chapman, interim dean for the School of Architecture, University of Hawaii-Manoa; Kiersten Faulkner, executive director of Historic Hawaii Foundation; Graham Hart, architect and co-founder of Kokomo Studio; and Don Hibbard, author and architectural historian and founding member of Docomomo, Hawaii Chapter. The panel will be moderated by Katie Stephens, AHL senior associate and historic architect.

AIA will present a panel discussion about design award winners, focusing on sustainability and adaptive reuse on July 26, 5:30p - 7p.

All events are free and open to the public at Art at Mark's Garage. No registration is required for entrance.
