GASTRO-INTESTINAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION TO HOST 60^th ANNUAL BALL SATURDAY, MAY 1, 2021

Virtual fundraiser supports research at the UChicago Medicine Digestive Diseases Center

WHO: Since 1961, the Gastro-Intestinal Research Foundation’s (GIRF) community of grateful patients, passionate volunteers, treasured friends, and scientific leaders has gathered for the annual GIRF Ball, their signature fundraising event. Due to the global pandemic, GIRF is hosting the fundraiser virtually in place of its traditional in-person event. 

WHAT: The 60^th Annual GIRF Ball will provide attendees a safe, entertaining evening celebrating critical advancements in digestives diseases treatments and care. The Ball will feature American’s Got Talent celebrity mentalist Oz Pearlman and a scientific update by David T. Rubin, M.D., Lead Scientific Advisor for the GI Research Foundation. After the great success of the inaugural virtual ball in July 2020, GIRF is excited for the 2021 event.

WHY: As a non-profit 501(c)3 the GI Research Foundation is dedicated to raising funds to support the physician-scientists at the University of Chicago Medicine Digestive Diseases Center in their efforts to provide outstanding care, train future leaders, and perform innovative clinical and laboratory research to treat, cure and prevent digestive diseases.  With 1 in 5 Americans suffering from digestive diseases, this is an important event to raise awareness and funding for this amazing cause.
