Join us in the barn at the House of Seven Gables, a McHenry County historical landmark. Shop for holiday & home decor, gifts, candles, local honey, select books, and new this year - A GNOME HOME! The barn, built in the early 1800s, is said to have been part of the Underground Railroad. Still today one can see the cellar where the slaves hid while seeking freedom. The home (closed to the public), built in 1838, was the courtroom, jail, and home of the territorial judge. Look for the seven gables as you drive to the barn. Chief Bigfoot had been a guest of this home which is located on the Bigfoot Prairie. For you Laura Ingalls Wilder fans, cousins of hers had resided in this home. What a great place to shop and make a part of your holiday traditions!
