Introducing The Lot:

Alfresco Dining & Entertainment Destination in Downtown Highland Park

 

Highland Park, Illinois – The City of Highland Park is thrilled to announce the summer 2022 opening of The Lot, an exciting new alfresco dining and entertainment destination located in downtown Highland Park. The City will transform the south portion of the St. Johns North lot at the northwest corner of Central and St. Johns in downtown Highland Park into a dynamic, flexible multipurpose event space. With an eclectic line-up of events from June to December already planned, The Lot will host concerts, fairs, and food festivals during its first season- with more to come!

 

From specialty markets to unique dining, family friendly weeknights, weekend concerts and food fests, there’s something for everyone this season at The Lot. The Lot will attract a vibrant and diverse crowd to explore all that Highland Park has to offer, showcasing the restaurants and shopping options.

 

The 2022 lineup includes:

  • Taste of Highland Park:  June 24, 5-10 PM, June 25, 12-10 PM

This fabulous kick-off event at The Lot will showcase a variety of delicious cuisines and libations from local restaurants, specialty shops and other Highland Park foodservice businesses. A fantastic lineup of daily live music will include headliners (TBA) on Friday & Saturday nights, as well as on-site fun for the entire family!

 

  • Take-Out-Tuesdays:  July 12-August 30, 5-8 PM

The community, friends and families are invited to ‘come out and play’ every Tuesday to enjoy live music, special themed nights and other entertainment. Make it a no-cooking night: enjoy on-site food options, pick up dinner from local Highland Park restaurants to enjoy in the dining area, or bring your own picnic blanket and chairs! Kids and adults alike will enjoy games such as cornhole, bocce, oversized games such as Connect 4, or bring your own mah jong or canasta set and enjoy an alfresco game at The Lot.

 

  • World Music Fest:  July 16, 11 AM-6 PM

Diverse music & food bring together a multitude of tastes and experiences in a fun, family-friendly festival atmosphere!

 

  • Vintage Car Show:  August 6, 12-4 PM

Attendees will spend the day in Highland Park perusing an eclectic display of vintage cars; both antique and classics up to the early 1980’s, while enjoying live music, food, libations and lots more.

 

  • Veg Fest (Vegetarian & Vegan: August 20, 11 AM-7 PM

The public is invited to see what the ‘Veg’ culinary craze is all about as they sample a variety of vegan and vegetarian delicacies.  All types of food options from sweets and snacks to appetizers and entrees will be available at this unique event. In keeping with the Veg lifestyle, entertainment and interactive activities will include music, yoga and meditation, arts and crafts from recycled or sustainable materials, cooking demos and more.

 

  • Literary Fest:  September 10, 12-6 PM

Audiences will love the entertainment line-up for this literary focused event, with live book readings, theatrical presentations, interactive poetry experiences and more. The event will host a featured author talk, book dealers, local authors, readings and more.

 

  • Oktoberfest:  September 16, 5-10 PM + September 17, 12-10 PM

This seasonal event will feature traditional Oktoberfest food, drink and a beer garden along with headlining live music, games and other on-site activities and contests in keeping with the fun Oktoberfest theme!

 

  • Vintage Market:  October 23, 11 AM-4 PM

Attendees can expect 50+ of the best vintage dealers from Chicago and the Midwest at this one-of-a-kind Vintage Market on the North Shore. Attendees will browse a range of unique items while enjoying live entertainment, food and libations.

 

  • Stews & Brews:  November 4, 5-9 PM

This cool weather event will get attendees warmed up with a variety of hardy stick—to-the-ribs stews including chili, jambalaya, Hungarian goulash, chicken pot pie and more. If it is a warm meal in a bowl, it qualifies! All kinds of brews will be available too, from craft beer, spiced ciders and wines, to hot toddies and kombucha! Big name live music will round out this great new fall festival!

 

  • Heart of the Holidays: November 19 and 26, December 3 and 10, 2-4 PM

Get ready for four terrific winter weekends that will bring holiday shoppers and families to Highland Park. Each week will feature unique entertainment and activities for all ages to create a festive atmosphere.  NOTE: Heart of the Holidays will take place in Port Clinton Square.
