Lexington Celebrates Creative Talent This Summer and Fall
Lexington Residents and Businesses to participate in a community building event
Lexington's ArtWalk Committee invites you to a new fun event, planned to celebrate the towns strong community and commitment to the arts. Remember the block party? This one has a different spin – a 4” x 4” wood “block” that artists of any age decorated and designed. Artists, painters, illustrators, sculptors, cartoonists, architects, designers (and more) were all invited to unleash their imagination to create inspiring pieces that will be displayed in Lexington Center and East Lexington shop windows this summer for residents to enjoy.
How it worked:
Artists picked up a 4 x 4” block at Munroe Center for the Arts, from a box out front.
How to enjoy:
Blocks will be on display throughout Lexington Center at retailers starting early July, and possibly into August, based on store availability. Walk through town and enjoy looking at all the unique “block party” pieces. Take photos, share on social media, and discuss your favorites with family, friends, neighbors and colleagues. Blocks will be returned to artists, date to confirmed by July 15th at https://www.munroecenter.org/artwalk-block-party.html.
This event, hosted by Lexington's ArtWalk Committee, is a first for Lexington. “We look forward to the creativity and imagination of our engaged community”, says Cristina Burwell. “This will be a great way to help people enjoy Lexington Center in the summer, and also remind them of the sixth annual Lexington Center Artwalk coming up this fall.”
Lexington Center's Annual ArtWalk has successful brought hundreds of pieces of art for display and sale each Fall since 2015. This year, ArtWalk is planned to run September 18th through October.
