Join Emily Bourne Research Fellow, Ann O'Leary, and "Lighting the Way: Historic Women of the SouthCoast" adviser Mary Howland Smoyer for "Women Activists: Abolitionists and Philanthropists," a guided walking tour in downtown New Bedford. Led by people at the heart of the New Bedford Whaling Museum's "Lighting the Way" project, this special tour highlights some of the women from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds who shaped the city's history, including Rosetta Douglass, Amelia Piper, Harriet Ann Jacobs, Emily Bourne,  Amelia Hickling Jones, and others. The FREE one-hour tour leaves from the Whaling Museum and ends at the Grinnell Mansion at 379 County St.
