Easton Choral Arts Upcoming Concert - "Look to the Day"

Easton Choral Arts' spring concert, "Look to the Day" will fill the air with uplifting songs focusing on peace, courage, inspiration, self-betterment and connecting with others. Songs will be in a variety of styles, including Broadway, Gospel, Folk, Classical and Calypso.

Some selections will include a rousing Gospel arrangement of "Amazing Grace" featuring talented pianist Becky Zinser. Two other songs - "Let the River Run" by Carly Simon, the theme song for the movie Working Girl and Harry Belafonte's calypso number "Turn the World Around" will be accompanied by conga drums, bongos and shaker tubes.

"Choose Something Like a Star" is from Randall Thompson's Frostiana series and uses poetry by Robert Frost. "The Impossible Dream" is particularly appropriate when we think of the people and leaders of Ukraine in their battle against oppression.

The finale of the concert will be a medley from the Broadway version of "The Lion King". The music for the original Disney animated children's movie was written by Elton John and Tim Rice. For the Broadway version, which won six Tony Awards, additional music was composed that uses the Swahili and Zulu languages and exciting African rhythms carefully chosen and arranged by South African composer and lyricist Lebo M and others.
