Kindergarten Open House

City Garden School in Columbia, MO, is hosting a Kindergarten Open House. Meet our extraordinary faculty, enjoy some typical City Garden kindergarten activities, and play.

Our kindergarten teachers create a warm, naturally beautiful environment in a home-like setting. Days allow ample time for play, both indoors and outdoors. Children participate in purposeful daily tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, gardening, washing, crafting, and more. Children participate in seasonal verses, songs, stories, and games during circle time. The storytelling curriculum also helps children develop a strong foundation for literacy in the grades. Our students develop through exposure to artistic offerings, such as puppet plays, live music, drawing, watercolor painting, and beeswax modeling.

Daily and weekly rhythms encourage balance, coordination, and essential gross-motor and fine-motor skills. They also support each child's imagination, sense of wonder for the world, and reverence for life.

Children attending kindergarten must be between 5 and 6 years old to enroll.

The City Garden approach to the early childhood program emphasizes children's social and emotional development so that children learn social skills and become a community of learners.
