The Hamilton Twp. Historical Society's 28th annual Holiday House Tour and Scavenger Hunt will be on Saturday December 8th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. The tour will feature 7 private historic homes along with area businesses and churches including the Abbott House B&B and the Orthodox Church of the Mother of God. The homes located on this self-guided walking tour in the historic downtown area are on Main Street, Lenape Avenue, and Hudson Street, all within easy walking distance from each other. Homes vary in age from 100 to more than 230 years old; each with their own architectural character and charm, coupled with the owners personal decor and style. The home's owners will be your tour guide of their properties and will try and answer your questions regarding the history of the structure as well as their personal history of the home. Charles Dickens often referred to as “The man who invented Christmas,” will be the theme of the holiday scavenger hunt. As you tour the historic homes and businesses of the historic district, hidden amongst the holly and hearth are mementoes that pay homage to the author and his fictional characters. Hunters can gather the clues and prizes will be awarded randomly to those who complete the hunt. Tickets are $12.00 in advance, or $15.00 on the day of the event and will be available at The Presbyterian Church of Mays Landing located at 6001 Main Street starting at 4PM.. For more information, please call the Hamilton Twp. Historical Society at 609-909-0272 or on line at http://www.
