Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is proud to present EL DOMINICANO ES UN CHISTE featuring JOCHY SANTOS, FELIPE POLANCO “BORUGA”, and CUQUÍN VICTORIA, with Carlos S​​ánchez and Juan Carlos Pichardo on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 8:00 pm! All the idiosyncrasies of being Dominican, presented through stories, anecdotes, parodies, and jokes.

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is on the campus of Lehman College/CUNY at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West, Bronx, NY 10468. Tickets for EL DOMINICANO ES UN CHISTE on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 8:00 pm ($100, $85, $65, $40, $35) can be purchased by calling the Lehman Center box office at 718-960-8833; Para Español: 718-960-8835 (Monday through Friday, 10 am–5 pm, and beginning 4 hours prior to showtime on weekends), or through online access at https://www.lehmancenter.org/events/dominican-comedy. The Lehman Center is accessible by #4 or D train to Bedford Park Blvd. and is off the Saw Mill River Parkway and the Major Deegan Expressway.

 

"El Dominicano Es Un Chiste" is a renowned comedy ensemble featuring some of the Dominican Republic's most beloved, first-generation comedians, continuing on their legacy as icons of comedy in their upcoming show. Santos, Polanco, and Victoria, have been performing for more than four decades, with their most recent show Stand Viejos heralding them as one of the best comedic acts nationwide. 

 

Jochy Santos is a veteran of Dominican radio and television. His rise to fame in the Dominican Republic was highlighted in the nighttime program "El Show de la Noche", which he co-hosted with J. Eduardo Martínez in the late 1980s. Santos also produced several radio programs, such as La Voz del Trópico, Radio Central, and Radio ABC. Over the years, Santos has become a household name, delivering laughs to families across the Dominican Republic with his engaging humor and charismatic personality.

 

Felipe Polanco "Boruga" is a luminary in the world of Dominican comedy, who built his career through a wide range of television programs such as "La Alegría del País" and "El Show de Noticias", alongside Milton Peláez and Cuquín Victoria, where his nickname "Boruga" arose. He is known for his parody humor and impersonations, focusing on the unique characteristics of Dominican culture and life. 

 

Cuquin Victoria is a revered comedian and actor, known for his subtle humor and storytelling ability. His television program “Con Cuquín” elevated his fame between the 1980s and 1990s. Victoria's humor often involves satirical and nuanced takes on everyday life. His storytelling ability, combined with his humor, has made him a favorite among audiences. 

 

Carlos Sanchez and Juan Carlos Pichardo, young but prominent comedic figures, will perform with veterans Cuquin, Boruga and Jochy, known for their mischievous nature, drawing from personal experiences to create moments of laughter. Their unique style and dedication to his craft have earned him a dedicated following.

 

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. is supported, in part, by public funds through the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the New York City Council and the Bronx Delegation.
