The Delaware Smile Check Program will be hosting a free event aimed at parents in May. Titled “Your Smile for Life”, the event will focus on equipping parents with the knowledge necessary to take care of the oral health of their children.
A variety of topics will be discussed during the event, including how a parent’s oral health can impact that of the child’s, when a child should first see a dentist, common oral issues, prevention tips, and more. Some time will also be dedicated to discussing the link between poor oral health and serious conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and more.
The latter is a bigger problem than many realize. If reading a root canal cost guide like this one isn’t enough to convince you that prevention is worth it, keep in mind that certain oral health issues — particularly periodontal diseases — can have a big impact on one’s overall health. That’s because bacteria present in your mouth can make their way into your bloodstream, where they are able to wreak havoc within your body.
