Juneteenth commemorates our nation's true independence-the day when all members of the newly reunited nation were finally declared free after the American Civil War. More than 400 years after the first enslaved African people were brought to the North American colonies, the fight for equality continues. Through music, dance, and commentary, we will recognize the importance of this historic day and acknowledge the long road still ahead. Our community and the nation need an uplifting experience of being together in unity and love during a season so fraught with division and incivility.

The Healing of the Nations Foundation is strongly committed to providing leadership and a call to spiritual renewal as an essential element in healing the divisions of race, class, and ideological difference. With the difficult legacy of slavery still fresh in our hearts and minds, we are channeling this difficult moment in our history while commemorating the important contributions that African Americans have made to the United States.
