In Rochester City Ballet's final performance of the season, we present the charming folktale The Firebird, paired with the enchanting Carnival of the Animals. A wonderful family-friendly evening of dance for everyone!
The Firebird wields mystical enchantments to defeat the evil sorcerer Kastchei and save Prinnce Igor and the Princesses. Artistic Director Robert Gardner brings this Russian folktale to life through Igor Stravinsky's monumental score. The Firebird is ballet's superhero!
Carnival of the Animals is set to Camille Saint-Saens' humorous musical suite. This production features whimsical costumes and narration in the form of the delightful Ogden Nash poem celebrating creatures from the ponderous elephant to the plodding tortoise.
