performed by Bill Cunliffe and Andy James at Nighttown, Cleveland, OH

Jazz pianist, composer and Grammy Award-winning arranger Bill Cunliffe known for his innovative and swinging recordings and compositions will be performing alongside the spectacular Andy James at Nighttown playing the music of jazz legend Oliver Nelson on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 8 pm.

Oliver Nelson (1932 – 1975) was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, arranger, composer, and bandleader. He is perhaps best remembered for his 1961 Impulse! album The Blues and the Abstract Truth (1960), often regarded as being among the most significant recordings of its era. The centerpiece of the album is the definitive version of Nelson's composition, "Stolen Moments”.

Bill Cunliffe began his career as pianist and arranger with the Buddy Rich Big Band and worked with Frank Sinatra, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Benny Golson and James Moody. He has since established himself as a solo artist and bandleader, with more than a dozen albums under his name.  Bill currently plays with his trio; his big band; his Latin band, Imaginación; and his classical-jazz ensemble, Trimotif. He performs in the U.S. and around the world as a leader and sideman as well as a soloist with symphony orchestras.

Andy James twice blessed as a gifted singer and dancer, decided her showbiz act one

would be a career as a world-class flamenco dancer.  Now she announces act two of her career as a stunning jazz singer with a 40s swing-style debut album, Caravan.
