Champaign County Balloon Fest - A Hot Air Affair

Bring the family and enjoy music, lots of food choices from the food trucks, children's activities and a dedicated beer garden for the adults.  Don't miss the famous "Airport Pie" from the Airport Cafe.  View the B-25 on display and the Grimes Flying Lab which was built in 1952.  It was a valuable tool for Grimes engineers to test and evaluate aircraft exterior lighting systems under various conditions while actually in flight.  Volunteers for the Flying Lab Foundation, recently spent nine years restoring this beautiful aircraft after it sustained wing damage in 1986 and spent nearly fourteen years lying abandoned in a field. The balloons launch at 6:00 and return for an evening "glow" beginning at 7:30-8:00 . This is an awesome display of light and color!  Bring your lawn chair and enjoy an evening of fun at historic Grimes Field.  Balloon launch and balloon "glow" are governed by weather conditions. 

Fun begins at 5:00 pm.  and ends after the"glow" at 9:00 pm.
