Bridges, Bikes and Brews! A new fall season celebration comes to Scio
Folks of all ages are invited to come and enjoy the very first Bridges, Bikes and Brews Festival on Saturday, September 18th. The fun starts and ends at the Linn County Lamb and Wool Fairgrounds in beautiful downtown Scio. The event features a family-friendly covered bridge bicycle tour, guided historic covered bridge tours in passenger vans, local craft brews, food, live music, and more!

Participants in the bicycle tour should bring their bicycles, helmets, and enthusiasm. Bridges, Bikes and Brews will provide the route, roadside support, and hospitality. The sponsored bike tour is 22 miles long, includes three historic wooden covered bridges and takes about two and a half hours to complete. The course is designed for all ages and ability levels. Aid stations with water, snacks, and on-call support will be provided. You can either register and pre-pay online at Scioevents.com or in-person. On-site registration begins at 7:30 A.M. and ends at 9:00 A.M. The first 100 riders registered will receive a free knapsack and water bottle. Registration is $10 for riders over 18, $5 for 17 and younger, and $30 for a family of four.

Van tours, hosted by Best Oregon Tours, will depart and end across the street from the fairgrounds. Riding in comfortable air conditioned 14-person vans, participants will visit four historic bridges, learn about the covered bridges and local history, and enjoy the pastoral landscape along Thomas Creek. These tours are approximately one and half hours in length. Space is limited and preregistration at Scioevents.com is encouraged. Registration for the van tours is $20 for adults 18 and over, $10 for children 17 and under, and $50 for a family of four.

The Linn County Lamb and Wool Fairgrounds will be open from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. with a beer garden featuring Snow Peak Brewing Company and Wolfgang’s Thirst Parlor Tap House, food carts, and other vendors. The Carol Bates Memorial Stage will feature live music. There will be an on-site Friends of the Scio Library book sale as well as other activities to support local nonprofit organizations.

Proceeds from the bicycle and van tours will go to support the Scio Event Center, a local, nonprofit, grass roots effort to build a space for more cultural opportunities in the Scio area. More information about Bridges, Bikes and Brews as well as the Scio Event Center can be found at Scioevents.com or visit us on our Facebook page at Scio Fairgrounds and Event Center. This event is sponsored in part by the Linn County Cultural Coalition.
