The Penn Dry Goods Market, a highly regarded antique show and program series, will be held Friday, June 4 through Sunday, June 6, 2021. Now in its 8th year, this previously textile-focused antiques show is expanding-in terms of types of wares sold and to a broader market-due to use of an online format managed by Impact Events Group, Inc. Penn Market is developed by the Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, who is committed to maintaining a high-quality goods and an attentive experience for dealers and shoppers alike.

The free Penn Dry Goods Market Antiques Show will be "open" from 11 am EST on Friday, June 4 through 8 pm EST Sunday, June 6, featuring all sorts of Americana. Goods for sale will include quilts, samplers, rare books, boxes, small furniture, and ephemera, among other things. Casual buyers to decorators and serious collectors will be able to browse the virtual booths of up to 50 dealers from across the nation. Quick links make communication with and purchasing from dealers easy. To preview the growing list of dealers, visit http://www.schwenkfelder.com/Penn-Market/antiques-show.htm. The show itself is free and does not require a ticket or advance registration.

During the show each year, the Heritage Center hosts a series of lectures about textile history to inform and entertain those who wish to learn more on the subject. This year the lectures featuring prominent curators and scholars are being offered as live webinars. People must register for a paid ticket to one or several lectures at http://www.schwenkfelder.com/Penn-Market/registration.htm. Once registered, the ticket holder also may view the taped lecture during the remainder of June. Topics include Civil War quilts, 18th century shoes, samplers, hooked rugs, Halloween costumes, and fashion in film, among others.

The Penn Market is the key benefit event for the Heritage Center. The Heritage Center engages visitors in exploration of the themes of tolerance, migration, and heritage in their lives through highlighting the stories of the Pennsylvania Germans of southeastern Pennsylvania, especially those of the Schwenkfelders. The Schwenkfelders, a Protestant reformation group heavily persecuted in Europe, came to southeastern Pennsylvania in the early 1700s seeking religious freedom. In the museum, visitors see looms and lathes, paintings and plows, chests and cider presses - all various household furnishings and farm tools from the 1700s through the early 1900s. Researchers in the library can trace their genealogy, and scholars will be amazed by 16th century religious manuscripts and printed materials in the collection. The museum and library are open without admission. Besides exhibits, the Heritage Center offers a full range of adult and children's programming through the year, much available virtually in 2021. See schwenkfelder.com for more details.
