This June will be the 50th anniversary of the Agnes Hurricane that had hit the east coast back in 1972. To date, the Agnes hurricane is still considered the largest and most devastating hurricane to hit the state of Pennsylvania in the month of June. The torrential rainfall and subsequent flood thereafter inundated much of the central and eastern parts of Pennsylvania. First responder historian Mike Glore will be holding a presentation of the events that had led up to the Agnes flood, and how it had severely impacted Schuylkill County. The venue will be held at the Mystic Theater in Pottsville and sponsored by The Schuylkill County Historical Society.
