The Power of Purple is a tabling event for community partners to honor, provide support, and highlight their programs and services to survivors of domestic violence. In the past, the partner agencies for the Power of Purple have included Habitat for Humanity, YFS, CASA, United Way, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Hope Center, and many others.

Walk A Mile in Her Shoes® draws families and friends who are passionate about our community, equality, and support women, wives, daughters, mothers, sisters, nieces, and granddaughters. They may be affiliated with the sheriff's office, police department, fire department, City of Rapid City, churches, local businesses, large and small, armed forces, theatre, media, parent groups, student organizations, colleges, and universities, professional organizations, community-minded residents, and staff from Working Against Violence, Inc. WAVI have been hosting Walk A Mile in Her Shoes® event since 2012. It is a dramatic opportunity to raise awareness in your community about the serious causes, effects, and remediations of men's sexualized violence. And it's FREE!!! So get a team or come yourself, dress up as your favorite superhero (costumes are encouraged)! We will have heels and capes available, or you can bring your own.

Our event goals are to raise USD 15,000+ to support the WAVI shelter and empower individuals to help stop domestic violence and sexual assault against all women. Funds raised will support the mission, quality services, and programs provided by WAVI. Thanks to the generosity of the individuals and businesses in our community, it has been a fun success! Please help us raise awareness and walk a mile in her shoes® with WAVI!
