This is a joint retreat with our sister center in Denver, Colorado and their resident teacher, Kadam Lucy James. When you register you will be taken to their registration page.
Would you like to learn how to love others well? To overcome your own biases? Do you ever wonder how you can make a difference?
Because of the self-focused view, we now live in a world that is increasingly toxic and divided. The key to lasting inner and outer change is learning to transcend our self-interest through the extraordinary combination of wisdom and compassion known as "equalizing and exchanging self with others". Often termed the “holy secret of training the mind”, this sequence of spiritual practices has been helping to heal hearts and liberate minds since it was first taught by Buddha 2500 years ago.
With practice, we can realize our fundamental connection and total interdependence. These insights lead to an authentic selflessness, through which we let go of a limited self-centered approach to life, develop a huge heart of wisdom, and bring our love into practical action.
In this inspiring and transformative retreat co-led by Kadam Lucy and Gen Menla, we invite you to learn and train in these life-changing techniques. Everyone is welcome!
We hope you can make a special weekend of it.

Teachers
One of the senior teachers of Kadampa Buddhism, Kadam Lucy has taught extensively in England, Florida, and San Francisco, and helped set up many thriving meditation centers in the past 37 years. She is regularly invited to teach courses around the United States and Europe due to her ability in presenting both simple and profound subjects with great clarity.
For many years, her main job was to help with the editing and production of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s books; and she has also engaged in several years of meditation retreat.
Kadam Lucy is appreciated for her deep wisdom, clear mind, and inspiring yet practical presentation of Buddha’s teachings and meditations. She is very skilled at explaining how to make these teachings immediately effective in our busy modern lives, to help both ourselves and everyone around us.
Gen Kelsang Menla has studied under the guidance of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over 20 years and was requested by him to become the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center Texas in June 2017. Gen Menla was ordained as a Kadampa Buddhist monk in 2001 and has worked and taught within the New Kadampa Tradition for many years. He brings a warm heart and joyful attitude to sharing Buddha’s teachings and the practice of meditation.
