With an anticipated 300,000 people making their way to Milwaukee for the Democratic National Convention, the Whitefish Bay Art Fest, located just 15 minutes north of downtown, will serve as a fun-filled hub for entertainment Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Hosted by Amdur Productions and the Merchants of Whitefish Bay, this free art fest proudly makes its return to the vibrant, tree-lined Silver Spring Drive in downtown Whitefish Bay and will offer access to 100 talented artists from across the country. Art will span a wide variety of mediums including paintings, jewelry, printmaking, mixed media, photography, furniture and more. New this year, the nationally-acclaimed production company is introducing “Battle of the Brushes,” an interactive live art competition where top artists will go head-to-head in a creative face-off live on stage.
“We are thrilled to be hosting the Whitefish Bay Art Fest during one of Milwaukee’s most electric and exciting weekends,” said Amy Amdur, President and CEO of Amdur Productions. “We look forward to serving as a much-welcomed escape over the course of the weekend, offering guests unique experiences, great entertainment and unparalleled access to amazing art.”
Attendees are encouraged to meet and engage with artists, artisans and makers to learn about their artistic processes, inspiration and make a connection as they shop for new pieces. Entertainment will be offered throughout the weekend including live musical performances, local food vendors including fan-favorite Moxie Restaurant, kid-friendly activities including art fest bingo and more. Perfect for families with kids, a youth art tent will also be available with activities such as color creations and spin art.
New this year, “Battle of the Brushes” will feature select artists going head-to-head in a 30-minute live paint-off on stage. Before the competition begins, participating artists will be presented with a secret theme that they must incorporate into their artwork. The artist with the most applause at the end of the competition will be named champion.
The Whitefish Bay Art Fest will be open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 11- Sunday, July 12. Located throughout Whitefish Bay’s downtown streets, parking is easily accessible. Admission to the festival is free. For more information or to see the full lineup of Amdur Productions’ 2020 festivals, please visit http://www.amdurproductions.com.
